Hi,

Is there any way to modify the existing single player campaign maps? I've looked through the MPQs but I cant find where they're stored.

I found a *very* old tutorial which said they're were in the campaings subfolder in install.exe but all I have in install.exe is things like FILE00001.MPQ FILE00034.WAV no subdirectories or anything with a meaningful name.

Farty made a program to extract the campaigns from the MPQ. It has been used and I've got a .zip file that contains all the campaigns and everything associated with them. I can't recall where I downloaded it, though. If you want, I can look for it and give you a link - otherwise, click here to download Farty's extractor. Either way should work fine. However, repacking them into the MPQ would be significantly more complicated, if that's what you were referring to.

Though there are some unused campaigns... like original terran campaign files go up to 12. You just have to figure out which ones are used (I've forgotten.)

EDIT:
Apparently it is campaign\terran\terran07 and campaign\terran\terran09 that are unused.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
