Yeah, this summer has actually been sunny for once, so I've tanned a little.

There's an old song, "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun", and there's definitely some truth in it. We get hot sunny spells so rarely here that when we do get one, it is treated as a great novelty and most people bake themselves by washing their cars in the sun at noon, or mowing their lawns and doing gardening. People from hotter climates tend to stay in the shade during the warmest hours of the day, I've noticed.

But yeah, the weakness of sunlight at our latitude range (approximately from Newfoundland to Southern Alaska) combined with the peculiar weather patterns of the UK (i.e. lots of cloud) are the main reasons for my usual paleness.

Because of what is visible within the context picture? Especially considering the other comment(s) were discussing the picture, and no shift in context seemed to have occurred.

Also 'Now Show Friends and Workmates' images are the best. :awesome:
