I'm (mostly) remaking a basic RPG map from SC1 in SC2, and while I was a fair hand at SC1 triggers, I never really did anything with WC3 triggers, so the new editor blows my mind.

I have a pretty basic situation. I edited the Larva to be able to move around, and placed a single Larva for each player in the area of the map I roped off for hero selection. I can have each player select a hero, and that's fine. I need to be able to determine which players aren't actually in the game, so I can start the rest of the game once all the Larva in the selection area are gone. I also will need to know how to determine when all those Larva are gone - I currently don't see the old trigger option that there are no larva in x region.

Assuming that each player has only 1 larva you could have a trigger which runs every 0.5 seconds that has a condition that player has 1 larva. This trigger could then turn itself on when run.

Realistically you should be using dialogs now though.

The way I look at it, a dialog just isn't a nice way to select your hero. I suppose it could be done, but I don't think it's that much cleaner.

Okay, that solves the problem for determining when the larva are gone, more or less, but I still need to know how many players I have. Is there a way to count the number of units in a given region? Seems kludgy.

I'd like to add one minor question to here instead of making a new topic:
I'm trying to order a unit to move, but the best I have is this:

Event: Any Unit enters within 1.0 of Point
Action: Order Triggering Unit to Ability Command (Replace Existing Orders)

when I click the link for Ability Command and search for Move, the only thing that coems up is hold Posistion, with no option for where to move to..

There is a function under PlayerGroup called ActivePlayers. This should return all players in the game.

Thanks. Topic can be locked, I'll figure the move thing out on my own.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
