Ultimate Frisbee!!!!

When I came to college, I had previously enjoyed the sport of ultimate frisbee. However, Once I joined the team at my school, I learned a lot and realized how intense and competitive it can get. Our College team went to the National championships last year in Ohio, and we had a chance to go to them in WIsconsin (but decided not to, as well, it's a 16 hour drive away). We even have legit Jerseys and stuff.

It's actually interesting how many different plays and formations there are, along with the many different types of throws and what they're used for. It took me about 3 or 4 weeks to learn some of the throws, and even now I kinda suck at them compared to many other people.

Anyone else play in a league or a team or even just for fun?

My uncle used to be #1 (no joke) in the whole Canada.
His name is Jeffrey Hall.
He then decided to work in art (dance) and left it all behind.
Later, he had an accident and were said he wouldn't ever walk... well he did walk again, but he is still rather restricted in his movements.
I am rather sure he'd be glad to have a talk with you about some strats or I-dunno-what on Ultimate Frisbee.

Would you be interested in communicating with him?

PS: He's a native English speaker.

Just Here For The Pie

In high school, I enjoyed Ultimate Frisbee very much. However, so did half the class.
So I would get my ass handed to me every game.

There would be a few times when I would be on the ultimate team consisting of the most competitive students in the class.
Then there would be the even fewer times when I would be on an ultimate team consisting of the most competitive students in the class that were not jocks and I actually hung out with during the period...

The second team there was actually fun to play on because they utilized me as a player and not a ghost.

Too many times though, I would be on one of the other teams made up of the people that did not give a damn, and I would be the only player trying. My efforts would come out fruitless.

Forget about it what I said before, Ultimate Frisbee sucked...

Ultimate Frisbee has always been the poor substitute to soccer when nobody had a ball. It's fun and all, but soccer rocks.
Also, it's a sport where a lot of bad players can show up and be accepted in the game. This is so-so because there's almost always a group large enough to play, but as far as actual talent, most players in public pickup games are puny.

It's the situation of any sport that you are forced to play (aka any sport in High School).

Thats pretty awesome, but I don't really see much of a point in talking to him personally. It's just not my kinda thing :D Although it is extremely cool that someone on here know someone that high up. Frisbee strategies also develop within a team almost more than they do overall, IMO. Every team has their own style.

@Rantent, I used to play soccer actually, and I have to say, competitive frisbee involves A LOT more running than even competitive soccer. However, I still think soccer rocks too.

Also, Disc golf and ultimate frisbee are two totally different beasts. :D

Everyone at my school hated this game intensely. It was one of the stupidest games I've ever played. Probably because everyone sucked ass at it.

My friend is one of the captains of the CUNY ultimate team.

It's a great game, but not if you play with people who don't know how to catch a frisbee.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

I love playing Frisbee when I'm at a lake in summer. I have a friend and we played a lot each summer and we became quite good I guess.
But what's Ultimate Frisbee?

It's similar to team handball.

Just here for the pie

I've never played a real game of ultimate frisbee, but a few friends and I integrated some rules of it into a game that's a mix of basketball, football, and ultimate frisbee. It's fun ;o. I can't see ultimate frisbee all by itself being that much fun, though.

To be perfectly honest, ultimate is not nearly as white as lacrosse, though it is quite white.
Lacrosse is the whitest sport known to mankind. I was depressed when I saw people in my neighborhood playing it.
