Given that color tags exist and things should generally be visible on all skins, it's not as great of an idea as it sounds and would consistently create visibility problems.

He has a point, though. For someone unused to light on dark, a dark on light skin for SEN would be fairly awesome. Occasional troubles because of color tags aren't that bad, considering that people usually use color tags to hide the text on a gray background, not emphasize it.
