Hi Everyone, I'm new here and I've been wondering about EUD triggers. Is it possible to still use them? What map editor lets you use them?

None.

If you're talking about EUD Actions, they were patched. But you can use a downgrader to get to a version that allows them.

These two links are going to be your best friends in your quest to use EUD conditions.

Yeah I heard that they were banned because they were potentially harmful of spreading viruses and they crashed macs, but I heard of some of the amazing stuff they can do.

I think it's really interesting, going beyond the death counter to access arbitrary data. Sounds like the deep, dark abyss where the unknown lay haha.

It's so simple, but some people have one hell of a time grasping the data.

You can still do some of the amazing stuff, like give units shields, make flingy.dat units REALLY fast, and give units 873489/1 HP, but not with EUDS. You have to edit the values in a memory editor, and it only works when you're alone, since changing values will make your copy of SC different from everyone else, and cause a desync.

Pretty much everything is known about EUDs, but what isn't known is where everything is in the memory. We have a pretty good idea (see links for EUDDB and the memory map). The deep, dark, abyss is extended units and unit sprites, which are known to have strange effects on other units, like an arbiter's cloaking field, doubling the animation rate, doubling attack speed, changing all the colors on the screen, etc...

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
