I always imagined RP servers as when I go to the bank, I have to line up to use it, or to use the blacksmith, I need to wait until everyone else is done. Also, I suck at making original names, I usually go for the pun / one liners, like for my warlock, I'd name him Ellipses.

And as far as the server thing goes, it's all based on personal preference. I can't stand RP servers because I don't like to RP. I hate PvP servers when I'm leveling. I hate PvE servers when I'm capped at 80.

My co-workers seem to love this server, though, so I don't plan on leaving it despite how much I don't like it.

You can make a DK on any server as long as you have a character on any server that is 60+. So you can theoretically make one on mine without having a 60 on this server.

Damnit, I just started my death knight on this server though...I will brood over it I suppose. Doesn't that mean when new servers open up, a person can make a death knight immediately, or is there a time-limit?

I think that they set a time limit for new servers similarly to the way they prevent transfers to new servers for a month or so.

My main is a DK because my friends were on a different server and I didn't want to level from one...

DK was probably initiated to pull people like me back into the game, who hadn't had a character in a long time but wanted to try out new content immediately. You will also notice you can only have one DK per server.

There's way too many DKs and 80% of them suck at playing. It's also the most boring class to play according to myself.
As for server choice, I've always prefered PvE. PvP servers are always full of little kids running around ganking you while you're questing. I've tried to get some of my friends to play with me on RP servers, but I've never succeded

I don't mind the DK play style, I actually enjoy Unholy. If I play Blood, I think I could solo more elite quests by myself, but Unholy is just so much better DPS and AoE damage. Though I'm still getting used to the rune system. Is it me, or do people suck at dpsing at lower levels? In instances, I'm constantly doubling up on everyone else's damage, it's pretty sad, lol. How is your server DevliN, does it get full on the holidays, does your battle group win a lot of pvp?

It is a lot easier to do quests as a dk - and I stayed out of dungeons. Needless to say, I missed a lot of gear. So my first heroic dungeon I did 900 dps... mostly because of my gear, but also because I was specced for leveling so I was blood *and* I wasted talented points on rune tap and such talents. Now I do closer to 3k, occasionally I breech that.

Same here. My other Paladin does 2000 DPS at 77.

The battlegroup isn't great. We win everything but AV. And we rarely if ever lose Wintergrasp.

lol@900 dps My Mage did more at level 66 (on bosses at least).
And yes, people do suck at DPS at lower levels. A friend of mine is leveling a Warrior as Protection and he has almost always been on the top of the damage meter in instances. He has yet to have a level 80 character, so he doesn't have any heirlooms either

So awesome, I was on the ten day trial, and it says I have 3 days left, and it says my pre-paid time is up. I also accidentally made another account at the same time, and then I can still play on that one (but it has none of my characters). So moral of the story, blizzard are a bunch of jerks. >.>
Edit: now it claims to be a 7 day trial, how stupid. >.>

I'm very confused by that post. You're on a 10 day trial? How can you be on a trial if you are using pre-paid subscription cards? How do you accidentally make another account?

I never said I was using pre-paid cards. I meant, in your battle.net account, you can sign up for another free trial for WoW (just the original) and it says ten days. And my other one is my actual account (was merged with my b.net account), with my characters, and I used the "Try WOTLK" ten day trial, but it's actually only seven days apparently. It still says I have 3 days left, so yes, confusing. Still undecided if I should buy, my break is over now though.

You'll need to have WotLK to play Cataclysm (which is out later this year), so if you plan on that, I recommend it.

Anyone think the Tomb of Cold Flying is worth it? 1000 gold is a lot, but I guess it'd help in Northrend for questing. Same with Dual Spec, was wondering if I should get it on my DK early. Also, anyone know the good heirlooms? I guess trinkets + chest + shoulders would probably be the best combination, maybe weapons because weapons are like 80% of your dps at low levels. ;o God, I cannot afford 280% flying though, I don't know how anyone can save up that much.

You'll need it sooner or later so you might as well get it at level 68.
