Decided to make a thread about it because there has been much debate about it and no official word. Voting helps lets us see what the community feels would be the best time (or post how long you want extended not shown in poll)

I feel that the bad idea about extending it two weeks is because people have school. Some judges who are attending school will not be able to fully participate in judging leaving it mostly to the more mature members. One week is still risky because it's just on the edge of most people's vacations.

Having it on the original date may sacrifice some RPG maps. One argument is that they had an entire year to finish their map, so it's their own fault. Another argument is that we will have less maps that are well polished since people need more time (they had an entire year, but things happen).

So what do you think?

No need EzTerix. I've already made a verdict. http://www.staredit.net/200458/

I want to extend it only by one day, to New Years Day, that way the spirit of the actual challenge is still there and it's all said and done by the very beginning of 2010.

Two weeks would be nice, but that's too far into 2010. One week would be fine by me, but one day is better IMO :/

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
