Tron [Name TBD]
Model Game: http://www.classicgamesarcade.com/game/21670/Tron-Game.html

I plan to make a tournament map following the model game in 1v1 quick competitions.

SPECIFICATIONS
  • Players
    Requires 2-6 players.
  • Map Tileset
    Undecided
  • Map Size
    64x64

FEATURES
  • Players will control their Tron Bike through Gateway D-Pad.
  • Turbo Power-Up (Speed)
  • Tap same direction three times for a 1 second speed boost.

DETAILS
  • Movement
•Usage of Accumulate for instant response times.
•Location Grid for zero lag movement.

    ISSUES
•Detecting when Tron bike runs into walls
•Creating continual movement after directional change
•Properly creating the Flag Tron wall

    NOTES
•It has been awhile since I have done maps so I am a little rusty with triggers. I have to relearn SCMDraft Trigger syntax as well as proper location grid systems. I'm not sure how to trigger certain aspects of the map because of lack of familiarity.

    SCREENSHOTS
    Coming Soon

    PROGRESS
    [LIST]
  • IDEAS (100%)
  • TERRAIN (20%)
  • UNIT PLACEMENT (00%)
  • TRIGGERS (00%)

UPDATES
  • 11/12/2009

I just had to make sure you knew about these maps:

They may inspire/help you.
Good luck on the continuation of the map ^^

Give me till later today.

Also @ Payne. I've checked those out, too slow. Tron should be fast. Tron shouldn't last more than a minute.

I just wanted to make sure that you know that you can not make it faster. I've experimented around a little and when the wait in the trigger-loop is lower than X (I forgot how many MS :S) the grid will fuck up: instead of moving up you will be moving top left or other diagonal directions (or maybe even worse things).
(you can increase the whole gameplay by placing a p14-scarab as the first unit on the map. Go to the wiki/tutorial database for further information)

However, this could also just be a weird bug I've occurred, go on trying and if you done them faster as in the twilight-tron-map (by general_raynor), tell me how. Please :bleh: .
Good luck on your map anyway, I'll be sure to try it out.

EDIT: I just played the link you attached at your first post: rofl, you call that "tron"? It's Snake 1vs1.
Go and google "GL Tron" it's 3D, realistic, you get faster while driving near walls, got turbo, up to 4 players, nice graphics, nice music, excellent fun & gameplay. Go for it.

I came up with a new idea which I like better. I only worked on initial movement triggers for this map so it should be fine. You can delete this thread if you want. I'll post about the new map when I'm 50%+ done with it :)

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
