Now, I am not one that is very big on technically terms or acronyms, but I was wondering if there is a converter wire for a RCA with YPbPr to a 4 pin S-video.

Basically I want to connect the red, green, and blue AV cables into something that has a 4 pin S-video plug on the end of it, and then stick the S-video plug into the back of my television.

From what I have been seeing, it does exist, but I think it is only available for a 7 pin S-video plug.

7-pin is not S-Video. It is actually a special cable that is probably non-standard and is typically used on video cards for the TV outputs. 9-pin is another one that is sometimes used for video cards.

Well, yeah, it is called a DIN connector, but I thought it was still S-Video in some cases.

People probably sometimes confuse it with S-Video because those ports can also accept a standard S-Video cable.

As for the type of cable you want, I'm sure it exists but I'm unsure of any specific places to get one. You will need to make sure your device is not using any higher resolution and that no progressive scan mode is enabled (unless the converter specifically says you can use those). The mode you want might be labeled 480i on the device.

By the way, do you just want something that works or something that works well? For the latter, you might need a box that does the conversion and not just a cable that does it somewhere internally.

In the end, I can see myself buying a converter box, but, until then, I would like to try the cable first.

Looking on eBay just now, I've only found cables mislabeled as S-Video and some expensive converter boxes, some of which are for S-Video in and component out. The searches I used were ypbpr to s-video and component to s-video.
