I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

I would like to know what can be changed in the Broodwar campaign for a mod.

Aspects I know:
-the displayed planet pictures
-the text display before briefing room
-the map itself can be replaced
-campaign screen animations (replacing Artanis/Kerrigan/DuGall)

BUT can you mod...
-campaign size (count of maps) ?
-which mission leads to next mission (e.g. adding alternative maps where you want them to have (like in the Terran campaign))?

What can you do about that with normal modding + current plugin knowledge?

PyMS and ProTRG developer

I'm not 100% sure about the amount of maps, but I think the only thing that limits the amount of maps is the mission select part which will only list the amount of maps from the original campaign. So having less maps would be fine but if you had more you wouldn't be able to jump to the last ones.
For which mission leads to the next mission, its all controlled by triggers, so you can do whatever you want, though like above im not 100% sure how the mission select screen will work.

Plugins can do ANYTHING, it just depends on the persons skill in reverse engineering. Literally you could make SC into Counter-Strike. Check out modcrafters for some examples and info on plugins.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
