My grandma is having some trouble with Java in her IE8. She went to www.jigzone.com to do some puzzles (Its a fun website) and the puzzles would not load. She recieved two error messages the first one was this:

Oops, the puzzle has failed to start in a reasonable time.
This could happen if your are no longer connected to the internet or your computer has problems displaying Java applets.

The second one:
The JigZone Jigsaw Puzzle is free and requires no extra upgrades to a modern computer.
However, if your computer is old, your browser has certain features disabled, or you have a firewall on your internet connection, these could prevent the puzzle working correctly.

She has already went through all the troubleshooting steps and everything else. Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong here?

None.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Try to see if the problem is the same on other modern browsers, like Chrome, Firefox or Opera. It'll help figure out if it's the IE 8 or the Java causing the problem.

...

Does it happen in firefox as well? If it does, it's a Java problem; if it does not, it's an IE problem.

None.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Turn off/on compatibility mode. If nothing changes, it's a java issue.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
