Hey all,
what I want to know is how to "add a new word" into a textarea after clicking on an icon, similar to this on SEN while you are posting a reply, you click on a smilie and codes like :hurr : will appear at the text end?
I'm pretty sure it's done with javascript. Please reply with an example-code + explanation.

EDIT: The same with the color like on SEN here, like at the beginning and at the end of a selected text-part?

It's done using JavaScript, which is actually completely different from Java.

I'm a little too lazy to give an in-depth tutorial, but basically you add an onClick action (<img ... onClick="addSmileyText(':hurr:')"> or something) and then you find the component you want to edit on the page and do .value += text.
