Specs
Size: 192x96
File Size: 67.0kb
Players: 7
Computer: 1
Game Type: Cat and Mouse Style
Map Terrain: Jungle

General:
Map based off of MA[Night]'s The Undead Link1 ,Link 2
The name of the map is truthfully still under development... was thinking "The Redead" as a joke...

I also wanted this to be more of a team game than the maps it was based off of, so many of the areas in which you can hide in are mirrored or duplicated to possibly get more team work from players that don't normally work with others.

Special Features:

Mining, most The Undead edits now have an option to mine. Player 1 has the option to allow mining or resort back to the 1 mineral every few clicks. I also have a setup for the main enemy to obtain gas via mining after 10 minutes of mining a path of 0 minerals.

Everyone on the "Survivor" remains the same color to alter the effects of how the one hunting them down could view them. This is an attempt to make it difficult to see them on the mini map with a chosen terrain.

Fixed buying system for "Survivors" so they don't get blocked or purchase unwanted amounts of a single unit. This also makes it easier for the player if they want to just make them straight out on the playing field.

Forced alliance system(prevent people from killing each other when they should be working together) and forced unshared vision from other players.

Terrain:
The map is jungle, I haven't decided if I want to add sprites for the people to hide behind blocking the view from enemies that are walking past. The man focus of my map was to block sight range of ground units.

Screen shots taken from scmDraft2

A little difficult to see, but this is basically a dual spiral that brings you to the same location. 1x1 High Jungle tiles are placed to give some extra vision to the defenders while added walls between make it so the attacker can get in a little closer so they can use one of the tactics of attacking.

Progress:
Terrain: 90%
Triggers: 85%
Balancing: 50%
Names: 15%

Edit: Progress code is retarded, removed it.

It's basically a cat and mouse style game that has a different twist to it. The "cat" has to hunt down the "mice" using different attack tactics than what some are used to in real cat and mice games. Instead of solely attacking with your main unit you use the smaller units to end the game quickly. The higher terrain blocks the view so the attacker would have to investigate further to see if someone is hiding in there.

NudeRaider -- blessed innocent soul knows nothing of the strife we had before EUDs were discovered :teehee:

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
