Is time actually a thing? What if we were able to reverse time, would that even be possible? Since we are controlled by time I find it an important thing to consider, don't you? It's late and I'm dead for ideas.

This topic hardly qualifies as any kind of topic, but for now I'll just move it to Null and see if it gains any life.

So why make a thread?

Hasn't Einstein taught you anything?

Time is relative. Meaning "time" for one person is different for another.

To put it in better terms, time is only an essence created by humans to explain actions and events that happen at different times. Meaning that you can say that the car got to the mall in 5 minutes, but I can say that the car got to the mall in 10 minutes, and we could both be right.

If this confused you... look up relativity :P (then you'd get more confused).

Time isn't a "thing", meaning that it doesn't really "Exist" as a Law or absolute measurement, unlike things like Mass, width, and speed, which are absolute. Time is used to explain events that happens relative to each other, but can be perceived differently by different people/perspectives.

So In short....
No
No, cause we cannot reverse time, as it doesn't really exist, rather it is perceived.
Yes, because it is important in our daily lives, and socially, we are controlled by time.. even tho it doesn't exist! :(

They are what? Mass and length are as variable as time under relativity, and velocity is defined as change in distance (length) with respect to time.

Time is a measurement like any other (length, mass, etc.) As far as we know, time is unidirectional, and orientable*, which is somewhat of an oddity.

*That is, if you were to record a series of events in two directions of time, forward and backward, it would be possible to tell which way was which, because of the consequences of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. See Thermodynamic Arrow of Time.

If you are able to, obviously it is possible. :stfu:

Wrong word I guess :\

I should say these units have absolute zeros.

That's a redundant question. If we are able to reverse time, then it is possible to reverse time.

Funny thing actually, one of my physics major friend came up with a bs "theory" that it is possible for us to travel back in time and go see the dinosaurs! For instance as we all know the time dilation equation:

When v approaches c, we all know what happens. However, once v > c it'll give us a square root of a negative, thus giving us an imaginary number (squaring an imaginary number gives a positive number.) This, my friends, is the missing key to the puzzle! This imaginary number (say we get like 3i or whatever) is what will enable us to go backwards in time!

haha for sure. in some ways it's even more exciting because you can play EUD maps on regular battle.net, don't need to convince someone to download your mod to play with you. what did you do?
