I use to play text-based rpgs all the time. I guess they were considered interactive fiction, they were single-player games, with no graphics, and completely browser based and free. Anyways, Does anyone have a link to any of these, or know of any?

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

I believe #143 was making a text based RP on C++ or whatever.

You might wanna ask him for it.

fuck you all

@Moose: Not if they're single-player.

@Corbo: Why would you write IF in C++? There are dedicated languages for writing interactive fiction. Inform 7 comes to mind. It's rather epic, actually.

Myself, I'm currently playing (and epic failing) at a game called Savior-Faire.

im not a big fan of text base RPGs, people always try to make them in programing class, they seem really easy and not complex, real programers use graphics :)

i guess ive never really played one though, (except pimp quest on the calculator)

Lies. Writing interactive fiction is just as hard as normal programming. Having done both, I would know.

@above: That's correct. IF/MUDs descripe the world around you verbally. DF adventure mode is a "rougelike", a totally unrelated type of game.

Now why the hell do I know that...

Text Based RPG's were never cool. Ever. You don't nuke things with ASCII characters.

Lies again. There are some very epic ones. Anything by Infocom, for example.

Symmetry shouted: I did my first EUD thing today. Feels like me finding arsenal at age 8 again
haha for sure. in some ways it's even more exciting because you can play EUD maps on regular battle.net, don't need to convince someone to download your mod to play with you. what did you do?
