A friend of mine did some work on his computer a day or two ago and cleared all the useless shit off his comp,
and now it runs fast as hell. But hes completely open to spyware, trojans, and the conficker.
He wants a free, powerful firewall that he'll never have to pay for and will keep him protected.
I just wanted to ask if anyone knew of one before I told him to just buy the damn thing.

(NOTE: I've already tried outpost, tiny, and personal from Old Versions.com)

Avast and Ad-Aware if he needs it.

I use to be a noob and used Symantec/Norton anti virus, but now I use AVG. You can get it from www.downloads.com

I use Avast!/Spybot/Teatimer/ZoneAlarm. Its been about 3 months since the last avast/spybot scan, as long as you apply a healthy dose of paranoia and common sense when browsing/opening stuff you don't really need to worry about getting infected.

AVG is what he had before, I gave him ad-aware. I'll tell him about the others.

Relatively ancient and inactive

Avast has a firewall, I believe. As for scanning, I use: Avast, Spybot, Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware (despite the name, it's not crap), and Adaware.

Just here for the activity... well not really

AntiVirus2009pro because it is totally free, useful, and scans everything.

Err, anyway, I use AVG, but Avast I heard was pretty good

lol, btw, for those who don't know, AntiVirus2009 (and other similarly named ones) is a trojan that has a fake anti-virus program.

I'd suggest Avast or Avira for viruses, Comodo is a decent firewall as well.

AVG + Spybot(No tea timer) + Windows Defender and I never get viruses. Although, I go to the right sites, so that might be half the battle.

I use AVG Internet Security. Its new, and it even catches my attempts to create a key logger :sneaky:.

I also have it until 5/13/2099 :)

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
