When I try to run SMC 2.4b I get an error. And I don't know what to do because I can't read it...

Hi, Julian :P

Are you sure you have all the latest updates? Maybe you need to install some .NET framework..

Ummm, I'm not sure. And how did you find out my name?

Maybe because you included it in the screen.

Try going to Windows update, and see if there are any optional updates you could download, or main ones.

Just here for the activity... well not really

Is this the first time you've used this?

Try to install it again see if that helps.

My only guess that this is a Korean tool, and you don't have the language file.

That, is what I'm thinking too.

The rest of it is in english though, and not having the language should just give you boxes instead of text.

Only some computers give boxes for some reason. Like my computer just gives symbols like that. My brother's computer, next to me, gives boxes.

I'm just going to throw this out there. In my SCmap cracker folder, I have 8 items: mpq2k, com.run, krnln.fnr, dp1.fne, options, MpqCtl.ocx, SMC2.4B, and readme. Meaning I have 2 rows of 4. Looking at your picture, which has uneven rows, I would have to assume you have either 7 or 9 items in your folder, meaning you have an extra file (wtf?) or you missing one (could be the problem?). All I know is I have 8 and mine works just fine lol.

I have 10 total. dp1.fne, krnln.fnr, mpqctl.ocx, options, readme, and smc2.4b. Then I have another folder labeled mpq2k containing 4 files: lmpqapi.dll, mpq2k, staredit, and storm.dll.

You seem to be missing the com.run file. Download it from here and place it in the folder. If that doesn't work, then idk.

I can't seem to dl it... I get an error when dling and when I click on it to dl, McAfee pops up and says it has removed a trojan.

I've uploaded it to a different file hosting site here to see if that helps.
I performed a scan of the file on my computer with Norton and it came up clean. I'm not familiar with McAfee, but if you can tell it that the file is safe, I would suggest doing that. I can e-mail you the file directly if needed (pm me your e-mail). And if you absolutely just don't trust the file or me and my scan, then maybe someone else with a working verson of the program can back me up that they have the file in their folder.

I removed the com.run file from my folder and attempted to run the program and recieved the same error as you. Problem solved as soon as you successfully aquire the file.

Hmmm, I'm still getting the same error when I try to dl the file... And I still get the McAfee trojan removed thingy... It says the error is unknown btw.

Jan 13 2009, 5:53 am TriggR_HappE Post #20

Well, like I said, I can try to e-mail it to you, but then again McAfee might hault that too. Can you turn off McAfee for a minute so you can download the file and then turn it back on?

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
