So I just got a 500 GB WD passport and my copy of slackware finished downloading. I was wondering if (and how) I could load the slackware on the passport and run it from that.

None.

If you format it I don't see why not. Just tell your bios to boot from it first, and install your os to it. You might have to do something special, but if windows xp can boot from a flashdrive you can boot linux from a portable harddrive.

It should recognize your external hard drive without any extra trouble. Install it like you would normally, but select the external drive when it asks you where to install it.
Once you have installed it, to boot from your external hard drive, either hit the key that your computer says is to select boot drive, or go into BIOS and change the boot order to boot from USB devices. You need to have a computer that supports booting from USB hard drives, but most motherboards made in the last 6 years support this.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

I jsut make an ISO image on the dirve, then choose to boot from that when the computer first starts up.Puppy linux runs on reaslly small pen drives BTW.

Red classic.

Ultraviolet -- That's strange, it looks like you targeted the base image file (sometimes people make the mistake of just using the imgur page link which doesn't work for embedding) but it still didn't work it sounds like.

ManCubuS -- Used : " [img=https://i.imgur.com/gpOjTuD.jpeg] "

ManCubuS -- Even tried with imgur, doesn't attach.

ManCubuS -- I should try a workaround, thanks! Sadly imgur is blocked in my country for some unknown reason.

NudeRaider -- I think SEN has trouble with https or hotlinking is forbidden. It certainly is nothing about the size, it just fails to get any size. You can get it working if you use imgur and include the actual image link for the img tag. Like this: [img=https://i.imgur.com/ddYqXZa.jpeg]

ManCubuS -- Hey fellas! Anyone knows why when I try to upload an image it says "failed to get image size"? I even tried making it so small. Imgur isn't working here and I tried postimg no luck.
