You get Quad Core or i7 because the world will eventually use it. If you buy a computer now, and in two years you realize "Damn, Quad is useful now!", you'd throw in and waste some more cash.
Do you crap cash for a living or something?
None.
If you're the type of person who only cares about how your PC case looks, then go buy a fucking prebuilt and get charged extra for cable management and a UV light. Idiots.
As for the rest of IP's build:
My GFX suggestion card kicks the shit out of that one. Same on the mobo. DFI > Gigabyte. CPU is better but costs more and I think he'd be fine OCing the one I rec'd. My PSU also allows more upgrade room rather than buying a new one later.
In essence: My build > IPs. And if I see that Antec case one more fucking time I'm going to kill everyone who comes into this section and dares to contradict me when they have no idea what they're talking about.

Aww, the lighted fans are sooo pretty

Only problem I really see with that case is that it looks really annoying to switch hardware in and out of it, I hate screws
None.
I'm thinking about keeping the bulk of IP's build and using the case and video card Ex recommended.
None.
I despise open box hardware though. I think generally most people do. But obviously the card kicks a lot more ass.
And how is your mobo better? Mine has better FSB, max memory (lol), more pci/pci-e slots, more usb, and no one has reviewed your board yet to say if it's a piece of shit or not yet.

;o
Here's my case:

I own the P35 version of that board, bought it open box from newegg, just like it is there. Only difference is that that one is P45.

DFI BIOS are the best in the fucking industry.

max memory (lol)
Even you know that doesn't matter.

more pci/pci-e slots
Doesn't matter two shits.

more usb
See above. I don't understand why people need more than 6 USB slots anyway. I've got like 6 on my mobo and two on my case. I use 3 or 4 max.

Let me tell you a little something about DFI: When it comes to motherboards they don't fuck around. DFI is usually the last or near last manufacturer to put out the latest chip sets but that's because they take the time to test their boards, and fix any problems. I bought my first DFI board a little less than a year ago and I will never be buying from another mobo maker again unless there's more than 40$ price difference. The BIOS are mind boggling with so many features that you will never be restricted by them, and for over clocking like I did that was very important.
I stand by that motherboard as much as I do the case, and I'd ask that Hat really takes the effort I'm putting into pushing this board into account.
Whichever case doesn't really make a difference, as it's only based on looks or the possible front end jacks. Well, fans + vents, but usually they are decent all around.
As far as the motherboard, Gigabyte seems more popular + better rated on newegg. Their bios seems decent enough. I'm not sure what more options DFI could possibly include.
And either way, Hat said nothing about overclocking. I don't, which is why I used the better CPU with a bigger cache (which you can't replicate anyways).
Also note my build doesn't support SLI. Which is why the higher PSU isn't needed.
None.
The higher PSU has nothing to do with SLI, it has to do with later upgrades. And frankly dual cores overclock so well these days it would be insane not to.
If popularity decided quality McDonalds would be five stars. Gigabyte has decent boards, while DFI's are exceptional.
Not just popularity, but also better rated, generally.
What BIOS options does DFI have that gigabyte doesn't?
None.

If I wanted to list them all I'd be here till next Tuesday. Refer to Google and check out specifically their BIOS memory options. Mine has like two pages just for memory settings. There are also a number of voltage settings that both Deathawk and I had no idea what they even did.
Which I would find just completely unnecessary. How about practical ones?
I already googled DFI Bios beforehand I couldn't find anything.
I'm not saying your board sucks by any means, but I trust Gigabyte as that's what I've known, as a lot of other people as well.
And why do you have two dvd drives anyways?
Also, Hat, I would highly recommend two harddrives if you like to store things. It's a lot nicer to keep data off the OS drive, in which case I would go with a smaller drive for an OS, bigger drive for storage.
None.

No, but my point is that the world will eventually use such things.
None.
And eventually, we'd buy new computers anyways.

Why can't he just partition his drive instead?
None.

Would you buy a computer every 2-3 years?

I do. And I overclock as high as I do because I don't need my components to last any longer than 5 years at the very most.
I like my computers to last, even if I won't use them. I have my 11ish year old computer sitting there, occasionally I use it as a linux box. Plus if I ever feel like firing up some old DOS games, it's there to install win98 or winxp or whatever I need. I imagine this current computer will always be winxp. Probably won't care for win7 or vista until my next computer.
