The shout counter in profiles should max out at 500 or so. There are people who shout simply because they can, to compete with each other for max shouts, or break things into multiple lines unecessarily to have more shouts. (alternatively, have the counter not increment if you were the last person to shout so you don't get a "reward" for breaking your things into multiple lines intentionally.) It's disruptive and it's spam. I might be delusional to suggest that the Shoutbox CAN have some quality discussion, but sometimes I like to dream big.

Why is there even a shout counter in the first place? If anything, you should just remove it.

Why would you cap our shouts at 500? That seems kind of arbitrary. Why would you not let us shout after a certain number of times?

You could make it so that you can't make shout more than five times in a row.

The counter would have a cap. Not the actual number of shouts you can make. Please read more carefully before claiming I've implied that.

In my opinion just remove the counter or add a max number of shouts in a row. Adding a cap pretty much beats the purpouse of having a counter.

I think it's better to do away with the counter all together instead of setting a cap.

Maybe you should just crack down on people who do that. I've mainly seen FlyingHat and Phobos doing that.

Overall, why use a counter cap? Make like
(X shouts in X hours) - Deduct Mineral count
Or something like that. Prevents more or less spam in the shoutbox I suppose.

Irrelevant. I don't string my shouts out into 2 word shouts to artificially boost my shout count. The topic at hand is excessive Shoutbox spamming, for the purpose of gaining shouts. I shout because I like chatting with no specified topic.
