We seem to have different ideas for SEN.
I don't want more users; I want better users.
I don't want more information; I want better information.
I don't want more conversation; I want better conversation.

Are you going to pay us monthly to upgrade our server box to have google-like ajax response times or something?

But having more members/information/conversation will lead to better members/information/conversation. If you can pop in to the chat while working on your map when triggers don't work right, it will be much easier than having to use the slow forums. This will mean that people will get more maps done, leading to more experienced mappers. More experienced mappers are better at helping less experienced mappers. And because SEN will start having lots of good mappers/maps, more people will join, and then because getting help is easy they will get better, so this will keep going. Profit.

EDIT: And I think I once saw something like this available for free on the Interwebs, I'll see if I can find it again.

I think my idea will turn this site into the absolute best site for starcraft gaming, I do hope moose/someone makes this.

A chatroom is added to SEN. About three people are active on it.

Wait, I missed the part where millions of people randomly decide to come to SEN because it has a chatroom. Shoot.

there defenatly are more then 3 puplis on SEN.... and btw... it's just about a personal chat-box not like PMs [they requires spaces and are "slow]

It just sounds like you said everything the shoutbox said, except it magically makes us intelligent. The unintelligence of the shoutbox is what makes it great...

So use an instant messaging client. MSN, AIM, Trillian, etc all work just fine.

For the record, we used to have an IRC Chat.
It worked out so well that you didn't even know it existed.

HEY! Moose may be epic, but I don't fucking kid people. What I was saying makes sense: If SEN gets a cool feature like this, it will become more popular. That's just how the Internet works. And yah, if more people join, the average quality of SEN will go up, because noobs will only stay for a while until they get bored of saying "do werk 4 mee bekase im 2 lazy", whereas serious/good members will stay much longer, especially with the chat.

Almost every case in internet history and my experience has proven that more members does not equate to better members. I have seen sites, both StarCraft and otherwise evolve over time.
SEN is no exception. I've been here almost since the beginning of the site. Trust me when I say that I know how things work.

*trusts moose* Maybe I place too much faith in the intelligence of your average Internet user... I still think that this would be a cool idea, even if it doesn't mean better members, it'll at least help the existing members with their maps.
