I have this weird thing that appears on my desktop every 2nd day or so. its an unknown file, and is simple called "~" It can be deleted, but keeps coming back. I have seen it in "My Computer" a few times, but mostly on the desktop. What is this thing, and how can I get rid of it? (Please don't say its like Contravirus...)
Look under Microsoft Files. I'm not sure if its what you have because I didn't read, but it looks right.
My first reaction to something like this would be a virus scan...tried one WITHOUT deleting your little friend?

A lot of temporary files contain "~", so I don't see it unlikely that it may just be a temp file.

no, i know those are just temps. its just "~" and appears on the desktop.
I was told to save it as a .txt and open it by Lurka, and it was all gibberish.

This file appears to store e-mail addresses in a fromat not recognised by nearly all my tools. Thus, I am manually analyzing the data for clues as to it origin.

DarkenedFantasies -- yeah it's a file size limit, around 2MB. there are files in the database that are larger than this, so I guess the limit has been reduced over time or there are hidden criteria[2026-1-22. : 6:39 pm]
DarkenedFantasies -- it does seem to be a file size limit. Uploading a 31MB zip of multiple maps also fails, but a 350KB zip of my mod's plugins (without the 8.5MB mpq) went through.[2026-1-22. : 2:55 am]
