Gotta love that first response MA gave me after my first post.

I know there's a welcome thread around but I haven't found it and I think there will be a lot of questions for a thread of that type.

Anyways, to introduce or re-introduce myself, I'm BeeR_KeG and I used to be a Global Moderator about 2~3 years back. Been part of the community since summer 2004 till about late 2006~2007? I don't really recall the date, I just know it was when Maplantis started and there was a big mess of things. How did all that get settled out?

So I've been studying, some of you may recall that I'm getting a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Stopped playing WoW several months back (Had a T5 Prot War) since women really do take up a lot of time, along with my studies and Track & Field. I've been looking around for my SC/BW, WC3, D2/LoD CD's to play a bit while I'm stuck here for the summer but I forgot that I left my CD's at my College apartment. Unfortunately I've been on my laptop so I have none of my old work with me.

So how has everyone fared these past year(s)? I see my old clan (U) is still around and a few familiar people.

Maplantis merged with SEN due to conflicts with Tau and the other admins. The maplantis that is here is not postable, it's just a static version that has downloads, tutorials, and whatnot. SC and D2 are now downloadable at the Blizzard store. SC costs $15, I don't remember what D2 costs. So, you could buy it again if you really cared enough

Who the hell cares? The welcome thread is retarded anyway

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
