They're useful on both ends on the scale. It's easier for webmasters to spread their news. And it's easier for members/clients to read it, quickly. It takes some time getting used to if you're wanting to start using them. But Firefox has a build in RSS manager thing.

I've never used them, I don't see what makes them useful. :/
Hey, guess what, this is a secret message.

Dungeon Master

I don't even remember what they do. I tried one once, and said "I don't see how this is useful" and never looked back.

Relatively ancient and inactive

My experience with them is equivalent to 'WTF IS RSS?'. Honestly, (after looking it up), I think the news page is enough.

RSS is basically an e-mail account that shows you news from sites you subscribe to.

When ever I load Opera, a little pop up in the bottom right tells me if theres a new SEN news post. Therefore I dont have to waste time with the portal...evar ;D

RSS? Hell yeah. I never used to see the point... but when I started using them, I found it much, much easier to keep updated on news and webcomics. It's nice when you have many things to keep track of.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
