can anyone give me some steps or something on how to start a clan for starcraft on bnet, as in with the bots and the restricted channel, and the hammers next to the name, etc.

all I've got from asking around is that we need 10 people, and we need warcraft bots.

You need 10 unclanned cdkeys or else you have to wait a week. Then you make a clan through wc3 where 1 person creates it becomes cheiftan. If theres no clan members in channel, it becomes restricted and no one can join, except clan members. The hammer next to name means channel Operator, one who can make channel private or ban/kick people.

No key can be clanned.. i can't believe a rumor like that got out.. like it is just stupid.. Anyways NAMES are clanned not keys. You can use the key for any account to make any clan.

Wrong.
After a cdkey is used to make a clan, it is clanned and cannot be used on another account to make another clan within the 7-14 days. You have to wait 1 or 2 weeks before you can make another clan with the same cdkey.

Once again, partially correct.

A CD Key that has been entered into a clan must wait a probation of 1 week through the status of "Peon" to prevent the spam joining of clans. This "Peon" Status is applicable only through the use of War III and War III: TFT CD-Keys. In no other way can you actually form a clan on Battle.Net. Using a Bot that runs 24/7 does not mean you have a clan, it means you have a bot that runs 24/7 :P

WarCraft III is the only Blizzard Game as of yet to support clans.

I can't believe you would start a rumour like that!

What I stated and what you are trying to correct are two different things, therefore I stand correct.

Let him do what he wants. It's not like we have an excess of clans or that another clan would hurt us.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.
