Excerpt from Wikipedia.org,

Quote from Wikipedia
"Second wind is a phenomenon in distance running, such as marathons or road running, whereby an athlete who is too out of breath and tired to continue suddenly finds the strength to press on at top performance with less exertion. The feeling may be similar to that of a "runner's high", the most obvious difference being that the runner's high occurs after the race is over.[1] Some scientists believe the second wind to be a result of the body finding the proper balance of oxygen to counteract the buildup of lactic acid in the muscles.[2] Others claim second winds are due to endorphin production, while still others believe it to be purely psychological."

My friend went to a school where the teachers trained their students to use their second wind. My friend experienced his second wind while running the mile, and got five minutes and twenty-three seconds. (5:23) I think that's purely amazing. The mile records go as low as three minutes and forty-three seconds. (3:43) God I love Wikipedia...

Not that I know anything about second wind, but 5:23 isn't that great of a mile time. I can probably run sub 5:30 right now without training for it at all.

but yeah, it still sounds cool. I've never experienced runners high either, and to be honest, I feel like complete junk after each and every race.. the worst symptom being I get an EXTREMELY itchy mouth and gum after EVERY RACE. It's the worst feeling ever! :(

Now that's all good and true, but we're talking about a 13 year old who weighs 233 pounds. The original fastest time at our school was like 6:43 or something like that.

Wow. Someone at my school won first in state and he's 12 btw and got like in the top 200 in the junior olympics i think. I wonder if he's experienced stuff like second wind and runner's high.

What was he competing in? My brother went to Kansas for cross country running in the JO earlier this month.

I wonder what they call it in trumpet players... :|

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
