[2016-11-13. : 2:46 am] Fire_Kame -- yeah, I suggested to Farty that he get a really small case instead because he can update as he goes, but if he wants to use it for extensive travel that might be too cumbersome[2016-11-13. : 2:45 am] NudeRaider -- But my reasoning is when you gonna invest a good chunk of money get something that makes you really happy, and that won't need replacement anytime soon. Know the saying buying cheap means buying twice?[2016-11-13. : 2:45 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: big AF there's a smaller one that's the same price[2016-11-13. : 2:45 am] Fire_Kame -- actually yeah, my gaming laptop would shut down cuz it'd get so warm. But I can play casual games on here nbd. I think infrastructure in general has gotten cooler tho[2016-11-13. : 2:44 am] NudeRaider -- It has everything you need, including USB-C, has a really good GPU that doesn't get as hot as the 900 series, and is newest tech, meaning it's future proof, probably lasting you at least 4 years performance wise.[2016-11-13. : 2:42 am] NudeRaider -- if I had to recommend one laptop to you farty, it would be this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233185[2016-11-13. : 2:40 am] NudeRaider -- CaptainWillCaptainWill shouted: Hmm, I've not looked for a gaming laptop in a long time. I always find them bad value for money and warm enough to fry an egg on. +1[2016-11-13. : 2:29 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I guess there are things like that that work well, my cousin has an nVidia Shield thing that does that[2016-11-13. : 2:27 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- A wireless monitor/keyboard like that would be cool, but probably have bandwidth issues for anything meaningful[2016-11-13. : 2:27 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- let's make a monitor/keyboard that is in the form of a laptop, but plugs in to a desktop with a long cord so that you can have it on your desk or take it in bed[2016-11-13. : 2:22 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- also I keep my laptop propped up on a book, so it actually doesn't get very hot[2016-11-13. : 2:20 am] CaptainWill -- Hmm, I've not looked for a gaming laptop in a long time. I always find them bad value for money and warm enough to fry an egg on.[2016-11-13. : 2:19 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ya, because I hate my wallet and gaming performance and insist on being able to play on the go ![]() [2016-11-13. : 2:18 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- and HDD/SDD stuff isn't too big, because those are easily improved[2016-11-13. : 2:18 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- it seems like most everything has at least i5 or i7 (I think with these GPUs I didn't see any i5s), 8GB RAM, and 1080p screens. Screen res isn't huge for me, because any modern resolution is going to be an improvement xD[2016-11-13. : 2:14 am] NudeRaider -- FaRTy1billionFaRTy1billion shouted: cool, thanks, you helped a lot np. Just keep in mind that with laptops you need to be willing to compromise regarding accessories or secondary stats. When I was looking for laptops I noticed when I set the parameters too strict I won't get any results and certainly not good value. With Laptops you just have as much freedom of every aspect. So the broad approach coming from the performance view (what you're doing) is probably best.[2016-11-13. : 2:12 am] Dem0n -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: Dem0n false. The 1060 is like 20% better. It was like that for a while now, but the 1000 series has really blown everyhting out of the water. W/E[2016-11-13. : 2:09 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- like if I know what specs to look for, I can look for prices, brands and specific models from there[2016-11-13. : 2:08 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ya, I will, I'm just focusing more on specs to get approximations right now[2016-11-13. : 2:08 am] NudeRaider -- FaRTy1billionFaRTy1billion shouted: is msi good? It's the one that newegg shows the most as long as you don't get an acer everything will be fine. Still do you research though, as even reputable brands have a bad model here and there.[2016-11-13. : 2:07 am] NudeRaider -- AhliAhli shouted: will cyber monday have lower prices in EU, too? nude, do you know that? it will, thanks to Amazon. ![]() [2016-11-13. : 2:06 am] NudeRaider -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: so a 980 is way better than a 1060 even though it's a generation behind false. The 1060 is like 20% better. It was like that for a while now, but the 1000 series has really blown everyhting out of the water.[2016-11-13. : 2:06 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- 970Ms start getting in to the range of 1060, I haven't seen 980Ms yet[2016-11-13. : 2:06 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- cool, so around $700 is 950M, $900 is 960M, $1200 is 970M ... xD[2016-11-13. : 2:03 am] Ahli -- will cyber monday have lower prices in EU, too? nude, do you know that?[2016-11-13. : 2:01 am] Ahli -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: so a 980 is way better than a 1060 even though it's a generation behind Don't hurt the feelings of my 1060, pls[2016-11-13. : 2:00 am] Dem0n -- so a 980 is way better than a 1060 even though it's a generation behind[2016-11-13. : 2:00 am] Dem0n -- the first number (9, 10) is the generation, the next set of numbers (60, 70, 80) is like idk the model or whatever[2016-11-13. : 2:00 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- is like the first number the series, then the last 2 digits how good within that series it is?[2016-11-13. : 1:59 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: 980 literally better tho o, I don't know how the numbering works[2016-11-13. : 1:58 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I'll just wait for cyber monday, see if I find any cheap 1060s, and then work down from there I guess ![]() [2016-11-13. : 1:57 am] NudeRaider -- well CPU generation might be misleading, but the chip is another series.[2016-11-13. : 1:57 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I couldn't find any 980s or 970s, but I also didn't look very hard[2016-11-13. : 1:57 am] NudeRaider -- tbh farty, if you could get a 980 (ideally) or a 970 for not much more than the 960 you'd be fine, because you'd be on a newer CPU generation, which will probably give you a year or 2 until it gets obsolete.[2016-11-13. : 1:56 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- this laptop was $650, so that's also what I'm going off of ![]() [2016-11-13. : 1:55 am] Dem0n -- they're like "o wow i7 is a much higher number than i3 gotta get that!!!"[2016-11-13. : 1:55 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- This laptop is 5 years old, so I'm happy with 4-5 year span[2016-11-13. : 1:54 am] Moose -- FaRTy1billionFaRTy1billion shouted: Mini Moose 2707 I was going to make a joke when I first started like "w/e, still runs SCBW" Ya, some people buy expensive shit because it's powerful and then run like, Microsoft Office with it LMAO |
