[2021-3-18. : 3:31 am] KrayZee -- ZycoraxZycorax shouted: Unless it's in Korean or Team Liquid. Back in the day I always thought it was cool playing random UMS maps and recognising the name of the creator (which in 95% of the cases meant someone from SEN).[2021-3-18. : 2:34 am] Ultraviolet -- I dunno if I feel quite that strongly about it, but I do agree techniques and knowledge are meant to be shared heh[2021-3-18. : 2:20 am] DarkenedFantasies -- IlyaSnopchenkoIlyaSnopchenko shouted: That, and to protect some of the know-how. I know that was the case with one map in The Critter Campaign. There were things I would've loved to see how they were done. It takes a special kind of shit stain to protect a map just to prevent people from looking at the triggers and learn something. If you're still interested, you could tell me what it is from that map that you're wondering about and I might be able to provide an answer.![]() [2021-3-18. : 1:46 am] Zycorax -- Back in the day I always thought it was cool playing random UMS maps and recognising the name of the creator (which in 95% of the cases meant someone from SEN).[2021-3-17. : 11:47 pm] Ultraviolet -- Given the lack of response in development threads I make though, I doubt it really matters[2021-3-17. : 11:44 pm] Ultraviolet -- ZycoraxZycorax shouted: Locking maps used to be quite common. It was done to prevent random people from editing them and taking credit for the map I guess. There was some program that could unlock them, but it was kind of frowned upon iirc Yeah, map theft used to be a fairly common thing back in the day, kind of strange behavior from today's perspective. I guess people just wanted to be lauded as awesome map makers by pubs or something. These days I would be less worried about someone taking my maps for credit and more worried about them making executive decisions about what should be changed and turning it into something I didn't approve of. But I also see maps that have been improved by various authors over time and wonder if it would be valuable to have my maps be open source to allow for that (which for me just means releasing the EE2 file since I don't use any map protectors these days, but EE2's process sort of does it by default)[2021-3-17. : 10:28 pm] jjf28 -- take a caution re-saving any remastered maps as I've been extremely slow getting around to supporting them fully ![]() [2021-3-17. : 10:27 pm] jjf28 -- TimebonesTimebones shouted: hmm how do you open chkdraft? Is there not an .exe file or something to open the program? Sry im complete noob if you dl from http://www.staredit.net/sc1db/file/2741/ and unpack the zip there's an exe there https://puu.sh/Hq5I2/abfe5720d7.png![]() [2021-3-17. : 8:50 pm] IlyaSnopchenko -- That, and to protect some of the know-how. When people click on that, they'll get a notification when a new post is made on that thread (like he said) so you don't have to do it manually like you are, and leaves out people who aren't interested.[2021-3-14. : 3:31 pm] C(a)HeK -- and what do you mean "subscribe to a topic"? tbh I hear about it for the first time.[2021-3-14. : 2:32 pm] C(a)HeK -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: C(a)HeK you know, people can just subscribe to a topic so they get a notification whenever a new post is made.
