I have recently gotten into forum-based (aka play-by-post) role-playing. (For those of you who don't know, RPing is where a game master describes a situation and you describe your character's actions. After a while, the GM will update the situation to account for the players' actions.) I was wondering if anyone else here likes RPing.

Would love to join, been looking for one actually. Most of the ones I've found have had a lot of uber-rigged people that take seven, homing-enabled, tactical nukes to kill. Will there be handgun rocket launchers?

I would like in <_<.. It should have stats to reduce 'rigged'ness though.

I don't why you guys like playing...RPing on forums is so easy to god-mod, no matter what you say. If I wanted to god-mod, I'd go play the Sims 3.

I agree. Being even more blunt I think it's pretty stupid. At least if it's original classic Forum RPing. Unless the forum has codes it in to represent stats and such and added a randomizer that worked hand in hand with stats and the only rping done was dialogue and WHEN you guys fight then it could be worth something. But the "I slash my sword" "LOL I DOJ'D IT" Is lame. Whats the point if you know your going to die/win/dodge/etc. Takes the fun out of it in my opinion.

As spoken by true non-RPers. If you'd ever try it, you'd probably like it, or at least have your reasons for disliking it be changed to something reasonable.

Kame, most RPers do very little godmodding on all the communities I've been on.

BeDazed, I'm not going to adds stats yet. I think I can trust people to not make their characters overpowered, and if they do, we'll have moderators who's job it is to warn them to stop and punish them if they don't.

TZ, Since its futuristic, will we be able to custom create/order our weapons/gear the way we'd like it to be? Maybe even epic vehicles? Of course under limits, so that there isn't any godmodding.

I don't think it looks ugly, but this is me probably saying this after a skin was added. Anyways, everyone on the forum seems very enthusiastic about it. I registered and am waiting for my activation to arrive.

StarStream RP could still use some help world-building for the main RPG, StarStream RPG (i.e. SSRPG). Presently, we're in the decision-making process of deciding the the background story for SSRPG. If you want to help, be sure to read over what is already being discussed, primarily in the Imperium Terrae thread of the Ministry of Approval forum. Last I chatted with TZ, he wanted to begin large-scale RPing in the universe within the year.

In the mean time, I've set up a medieval-sorcery-fantasy RPG to bide the time, if you would like to join. It is a very good chance to practice fictitious/fantasy writing, but mind-you, writing in an RPG is NOTHING like writing a story by yourself.

Alternatively, I've been thinking of getting a science fiction RPG up, for those more attracted to that genre (especially hard sci-fi).
