hey, long time no see modding community.

unfortunately im not back for SC modding, but im working on a java game that i need frame by frame animations of explosions and i already have one starcraft explosion decompiled and i want some more. Basicly i forgot where the terran explosion grps are located and what they are indexed as, i found the protoss ones but they do not look as good decompiled.

Thank you, i know this isnt really modding and any moderator is free to delete this after solution. Thanks!

Look at the iscript for various units. That will tell you what image holds the explosion. Then, you can look under images.dat.

The Images entries / GRP Files are:
332 Explosion2 (Small) / GRP File: 217, thingy\tBangS.grp
333 Explosion2 (Medium) / GRP File: 218, thingy\tBangL.grp
334 Building Explosion (Large) / GRP File: 219, thingy\tBangX.grp

There are some other entries but they use the same grps, so they dont really matter. There are a few more explosions from weapons and things IE Missiles or Nuke.
Hope that helps.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
