Because I no longer doubt the admins ability to listen (OHai Introductions) to what we say, I am starting a thread of features for the not revealed, but hinted at V6.

Maybe you'd like better control of the forums layout through settings?

Perhaps you'd like to see the return of a currency?

Maybe you feel that certain features should be left out?

V6? Wtfrick are you talking about? What is fundamentally wrong with this version other than it never being finished, or that keeps it from being finished? The only reason why you remake an engine like this is if there is something you want to achieve that you can't do with the older version due to the amount of work it would require to write a hack into your code to achieve it. This code it not yet to the point where it requires constant code hacks to add anything new.

IP <3's AJAX.
SEN v5 is not AJAX.
SEN v6 will be AJAX.

Alternatively you could contribute to the community with added source code. :P

You're clearly missing the point. What would you like to see in a SEN v6. I even stated it's not official.

Bring back store and minerals.

Remove icons next to names, except for admin and elites.

Show people that have visited today, down bottom. Toggleable.

Jamal's skin.

Fix the wiki, so renaming articles works.

All those can be achieved in v5 though.

Red classic.

A nice, working DLDB. In any version.

No point in thinking of v6 when v5 is not properly functional.

All can still be accomplished in v5 with MUCH less wok than it would take to make a brand new version. Discussing what should be added PERIOD makes sense, not what should be added in this imaginary new version :P

Blah blah blah. I think this is an interesting theory topic. Maybe things listed here could be applied in v5, who knows. Wait, I do.
So if something was going to be completely revamped, some dramatic changes, how SEN acts throughout the site, whatever could make SEN a lot better in any circumstance, let's hear it.

For example, an easy suggestion would bring back sub-forums. Yeah, I still hate them with a passion, but it's an example. Perhaps you could think of an entirely new way for forums to be structured or simply shown at the index. At one point I had each group (SEN functions / maps / mods / melee / other) as tabs when I was toying with ideas for v5. Sometimes the littlest ideas I can take and make this great, giant improvement.

The sword and the faith

Ex's List of v6 Must Haves In Order Of Importance
A functional, user friendly DB utilizing BOTH tags and categories. It must outdo the Maplantis DB, which is effectively its predecessor, in every way possible. Depending on the time of release, we may need SC2 resources as well, but I won't push this since we haven't even begun to outline the file formats we'll be using yet.

The wiki and its functions should be in working order. A wiki is perhaps one of the greatest assets behind our community besides the DB itself. Knowledge is power and one of SEN's main draws has always been the amount of information we have to share.

A site currency in minerals or by any other name, determined by activity, contributions, and least of all by posting, and if not, only by posting in mapping areas. See Nibbit's XP system. Alternatively, both an XP and mineral system could be implemented, instead of our current usergroups, allowing users to 'level' based on contributions, comments, and tutorials. Higher levels may be able to attain things minerals can't buy.

A revamping of the usergroup system I originally suggested which you managed to royally misinterpret and ultimately not finish. I like that you used my idea, I wish you would've used it properly. I don't appreciate how half implemented it is.

A wide range of skins, including v4, v5, and a v6 variant, along with others. Site should not launch with less than 3 fully operational skins with absolutely no bugs or missing icons at any reasonable resolution (1280x1024 minimum, 1920x1200 maximum for testing purposes.).

Persons visited in the last twenty four hours, new members, and other variables available in a menu at the bottom of the index page. A dropdown box would be able to change from a number of these which would be remembered as a personal setting rather than a cookie or something that could expire.

If I see v6 launch without these IP, I'm going to start making a lot of noise. ;O I think after v5, we are owed something better for our patience. If its going to take time, then take time, but don't give us another v5, another half completed attempt that has such slight improvements that it does not justify the wait.

In my system tiers are not something you advance easily and are not taken lightly. You're not just a Regular you're a member with minor DB action powers. You're not just a Veteran, you have minor say in moderation, you aren't just an Elite, you have privileges above and beyond that of lower tier members, effectively a Jr. Mod. I know you're probably going to respond 'I just didn't get to coding these things' and that's fine, but when you do v6, either have tiers mean something besides an icon or a color, more than just PM/Upload space, though that's certainly a start, and if not, don't bother at all.

The current implementation is trivial at best, my implementation gave meaning to each tier. It would effectively create less work for staff, and some of us aren't going to be around forever.

Its nice, but I don't think it's a realistic replacement.

OMG, WE CAN MAKE THE SITE "SEN RPG: Quest for the Mini Moose" And like, you start off with only the original Staredit as your weapon, but you can find like SC X-tra 1.0 laying around to upgrade, and do quests to get to StarForge, then IP wields his mighty keyboard, and only the best of the best are strong enough to defeat the "SCMD Backup Bug" and save SI so that we can have enough SCMDraft Points to destroy SteamBoy and save Mini Moose from his evil clutches.

Newgrounds level system and rating system are good.

Currency should be available easily and mean nothing. The store should buy things like big StarCraft Renders displayed on ones profile with boxes on either side with contact info, user info, bio, wall?

Exp should be given via DLDB Officers reviewing maps, through moderators of Mapping assistance. Being the one to help has purpose.

Skins would be fun with different styles that each skin accomodates. I.E Tabbed Forums, Bulleted Forums.

Clan Pages.

I have 6 invites left for Wave.
I agree that the tiers need to have a meaning, besides an icon and color. I don't have one, but I don't mind because right now, it's only an image.

SEN might need to look like a sc2 site soon, because currently sc/bw is the theme.
