Just here for the activity... well not really

Vent Wars 2
A 4v4 arena that has a focus on "Everything has an effect"

Gameplay
Each team has one base (a shield battery) for each player that is the spawning zone.
Minerals are gained by killing and dying. (see below.)
Beacons are also placed sporadically. Setting a good defense next to or near one is key. The highest number of units in the area gets the beacon. Controlling one gives minerals.
When all of the team's S.Batteries are destroyed. the other team wins.

1 Mineral when you die.
1 Mineral to you and your teammates when you kill.
1 additional mineral for you, the killer.
1 Mineral for every beacon, every 3 minutes.

At the start or when you respawn, you can choose one of 12 units. There are multiple upgrade families, and you should play accordingly and not waste upgrades.

I actually thought it looked like a ventilation system at first (I don't know how, but I did) and that's where the name came from. Other than that it's pretty much arbitrary.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
