Recent reports have filtered in that members of Gotham City have decided to take their plight into their own hands. Showing a blatant disregard for the idea of police protection, they instead held a brief conference before deciding for themselves who was guilty of last night's murders. Screaming for blood, the angry mob coalesced outside the home of Darkling.
Caring nothing for decorum, the mob smashed in his door and surrounded him in his living room. They picked him up and carried him outside, where one member of the mob withdrew a rope and strung up poor Darkling from a tree. Darkling hung there, intended as a ward against the mafia but ending up little more than a glaring example of the peril of vigilante justice.
