Yay, apparently Windows 7 doesn't play well with StarCraft and Blizzard's only response is "StarCraft is not Windows 7 compatible." So far it seems like my StarCraft will forever be 1.15.2 as it cannot figure out how to install the patch.

Worked the first time I tried it.

Woah

Yeah, I have no idea why it wasn't working. Every time I tried to connect to Battle.net, it would instantly download the patch and give me the "StarCraft will now restart" message, and never restart (which I assume means it never actually patched). Maybe it's because I had to run StarCraft as administrator or something. Either way it works now, so I'm good to go.

Question
Can it do everything I can do now while using less resources?

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

That depends on what you can do now.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

Then let me restate his question:
What can't I do with 7?

That depends on what you ARE DOING now.

FTFY.

If you're running a 64 bit system, yes. If you're running highly multithreaded applications, yes. If you're running Vista, yes.

If you have an i7, yes, etc. etc.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.
[06:26 am]
NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier

Symmetry -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Symmetry I can't tell if it's relevant. You provided literally no context so I was providing an equally generic answer.
