Ok so I partitioned 50GB of my harddrive a couple months ago in order to try out the Windows 7 RC. Now that I hvae the full RTM version, I wanted to delete that partition and just upgrade my Vista to 7. So I did all that in EASEUS, but my computer has been partitioning for over 24 hours now... it's been stuck on 55% for about 22 hours of that time. I'm not sure if it's frozen or not and if shutting down the computer will corrupt my harddrive or not. Stupidly, I didn't back anything up since it worked completely fine the first time I partitioned my harddrive. It took a while to do it before, so I'm wondering if I should just let it keep running? To create the partition, I had to leave it running overnight to finish. I'm guessing this will take longer since I'm first deleting the partition and then merging it to my main partition, but I still didn't think it would take over 24 hours... any help on what to do? I'd be fine with leaving the partition there for now so long as I don't lose any data from shutting the computer off, etc.

When merging partitions often all data on the main partition has to moved to another part of the harddrive.
So lets assume your harddrive does 40MB/s then in 24 hours the computer would be able to move 24h * 3600s/h * 40MB/s / 1024MB/GB = 3375GB = 3,4 TB

So unless you got a 2TB+ hdd I'd assume something went wrong.

The only proper course of action is to cancel the program. The process will not be finished, windows may not start anymore, but at the very least you can access the data from another pc and do a backup.

Crashing the program by resetting the pc will probably result in some data being lost completely but the majority will remain intact and most probably a the partition will be corrupted. Good data recovery programs should still be able to recover the most of the data. Again, you'll probably need another computer.

Can you tell if it is still accessing the hard drive? If it is still doing stuff with the hard drive, definitely just leave it alone and let it do its thing.

Hmm, I think the lights for my HD are on the front of it, and unfortunately the way it is put into my computer means that the front is pretty tight against the wall. Would you recommend moving the harddrive while on to see if it's flashing?

Probably not relevant anymore, but I will answer for the sake of completeness.

You can move or open your computer while it is working on the hdd. Just be extra careful not to create large shocks. Work slowly.
I even held hdds in my hands while in use and put them down on the case. But this is risky, even if you're very careful.
