Original flingy entry:

Modified flingy entry:

Anyone understand what's wrong?

On another note, I'd like to make the Command Center be able to load/unload units with a space of four (for 4 SCVs, ideally), but when I did that the buttons got all screwy on me and load/unload didn't work.

Also, sorry, the pics aren't exactly clear.

You can't make the Command Center fly faster via flingy.dat. However, there is an EXE edit in FireGraft that can. Note that this will affect ALL flying buildings.

Did you update the requirements for the Load and Unload orders?

None.

Crap, I use 1.16.1 and it doesn't have .EXE edits.

Yes.

Okay then. Use a siege tank. Tank mode = landed form, siege mode = flying form.

I don't know why you can't make it load units. I'm almost totally sure you can make the tank transport units, though.

How does that help me? I wanted the Command Center to do it.

May 19 2009, 7:32 pm Biophysicist Post #6

Right, but you're turning the tank into the Command Center. :P

Lol, siege tank, the most popular solution to all of modding's limitations. No need in this case, however. I found out something interesting when I was working on my unit for the first Modder's Brawl. Ever since, I've been wondering if anyone else knew about it. You can change an individual flying building's speed with the magic of "setflspeed" in IceCC. Yes, it works even on buildings. =o)

Great!

I'm running Vista! Awesome! IceCC doesn't work! (PyIce does but WinMPQ doesn't so it's irrelevant)

You could try Mo'PAQ instead of WinMPQ. PQ is working on PyMPQ for PyMS, too.

IceCC and WinMPQ work just fine for me and I'm on vista.

There's a black box with text in it that opens and immediately closes when I activate IceCC and WinMPQ says "can't load (or register) custom control MSCOCTL.OCX" or something of that nature.

May 20 2009, 6:56 am ShadowFlare Post #12

Try running IceCCUI instead (requires Java to be installed, though). Icecc.exe and icedc.exe are intended to be run from the Windows command prompt. For WinMPQ or any of my VB-based programs, one option is to use the installer from the top of the downloads list on my site.

Is IceCCUI a seperate download? I don't believe I have it (can't check now, at schoolzorz).

No, IceCCUI.BAT is included in IceCC 1.3's download.

May 20 2009, 9:58 pm Pr0nogo Post #15

Black box with white text flashing, immediately closes thereafter. Does it even when I re-download it.

May 20 2009, 10:38 pm ShadowFlare Post #16

I usually don't run the .bat file; instead I just open IceCCUI.jar directly. If Windows asks you what you want to open it with, you probably don't have Java installed.

This is what happened when I opened IceCCUI.

It didn't ask me anything.

IceCCUI.jar, not IceCCUI.bat? The jar file won't come up with a console window. If it comes up with anything, it will either be Windows asking what to open it with, or the program itself.

Did you update the requirements for the Load and Unload orders?
But would that include INFESTED Command Center?

.jar worked, thanks!

Now, if I could only get WinMPQ to open...

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
