Scout engine overlay crash

I changed the grp for the scout engine overlay (pscglow.grp) and it keeps crashing for some reason. It has the same amount of frames, all I did was change the image. It works fine when the unit is going straight up (pscglow000) but any other direction seems to make it crash. The new frames are larger than the originals (if that matters). I didn't touch the iscript, or anything else for that matter (is there something I need to edit?) I did the same thing to the dropship and wraith engine overlays and it worked perfectly fine, idk why the scout is being so difficult. Maybe someone could please help me figure out/fix this. Thanks :)

did you replace the correct amount of frames?
did you use the right pallet for extracting the files?

Would using the wrong pallet even make it crash? Doesn't that just mess up the colors?

aka idmontie

Is the .grp corrupt? What are the image dimensions?

Did you use a GRP compiler other than SFGRPConv?

None.

The dimensions are 120 x 120

I used RetroGRP

Don't use RetroRPG with non-standard palletts. Try using pyMS -> pyGRP.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
