Quote from From the installation guide for a program I'm trying to install
`cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type
`./configure' to configure the package for your system. If you're
using `csh' on an old version of System V, you might need to type
`sh ./configure' instead to prevent `csh' from trying to execute
`configure' itself.
Well. I've tried every variation on "configure" and "run" I can think of, and I always get the same error: "<whatever> is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file." I need to get this stupid thing to install, can anyone help me?

(And yes, I cded into the proper directory.)

Try the things with quotation marks between them. EG: "./configure", etc.

What program are you trying to install? I am curious.

When I made this thread, I was trying to install a skeletal animation program called Kudu. Now I've given up on that because it doesn't have some features I need (It's an early alpha or something) and instead trying to install a different program called Animadead, which is giving me THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. RAWRANGER.

Have you tried madly clicking and opening every single file in the folder of your program and then trying? Maybe you should post the entire read-me file, too.

No, I haven't. How would randomly clicking stuff help? It just makes that "What program do you want to open this file with?" (or w/e) list pop up.

Anyway, here's the entire install guide: (Beware, it's probably going to be tl;dr.)

... Are you sure it's for Windows?

Oh, and you know that you don't have to type "run" (non-existent) or "start" (not needed), right? As in, if I CDed to my StarCraft folder and I wanted to run SC from my CMD, I would then type "starcraft.exe". With quotation marks.

So you would just type "./configure". And literally EVERYTHING that's bolded needs to be typed. Including quotation marks. And that would also be the only thing to type; no "run" or "start" or whatever.

If it wasn't for Windows, why would it mention Command Prompt?

Anyway, I tried that. No luck. And yes, I am in the correct directory.

EDIT: Apparently, this program doesn't even create animations... Can someone delete/lock this?
