so, is there a way to change a death of a specific building instead of just exploding and rubble? I tried it with PyICE and when i saved it and looked at it again, it was the same. Is it possible or am i doing something wrong?

None.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

We can't tell if you're doing something wrong if you don't tell us what you're doing...

fuck you all

Go into the iscript and replace the death animation. That's how you do it.

Also, make sure you're saving it properly... When you compile it in IceCC/PyIce, make sure to name the outputted file as iscript.bin. Also, when you add it to your MPQ, put it under scripts\, not arr\.

so you can't make every building have it's own different death

PyMS and ProTRG developer

Yes you can... Tassadar just told you how to do it. What corbo was saying is we have no idea what you did to your iscript so how the hell are we supposed to tell you where you screwed up? Explain what you did step by step, and post up your units script.

Code
CommandCenterDeath:
    playsnd               7     # Misc\ExploLrg.wav
    imgol                 334 0 0     # Building Explosion (Large) (thingy\tBangX.grp)
    wait                   3
    liftoffcondjmp         CommandCenterLocal00
    lowsprul               274 0 0     # Terran Building Rubble (Large) (death\Tcommand.grp)
    wait                   1
    end

there,
when i saved the edit, it just went back to the original

Dungeon Master

How about 'cause you didn't actually change anything? That's exactly the same as the default command center death iscript.

Haha, lol. You must have forgotten to save the text file before compiling it.

or you just didn't compile it right...

The first time I came in contact with IceCC I had soo much trouble trying to get the changes saved in the game that I actually gave up after a month of non-stopping trying, iceCC was reborn within me after like 3 years when I started to pick modding back up again... @_@||... I just didn't get it the first time.. and I just got it the second time...

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
