I was pissed off at the ugly backwards high dirt --> dirt ramps, so I decided to try to make my own (that weren't high dirt to high jungle to jungle to dirt).

The sword and the faith

Very nice. May I submit these over at BWMN with your name on it?

The sword and the faith

From BWMN:
"They are blended pretty nicely, but the physical properties don't match the ones of a normal ramp at all. It looks as if you could block the ramp with a single zergling, ling tight. Or at least with a zealot.
It's much too tight in the middle."

If you'd like to fix them Sticky, go ahead. If not, no big deal.

The commenters there are retarded, I already posted the rebuttal there, but here it is:

You guys obviously did not test any of these comments you are making, the ramp is only slightly more narrow than a normal ramp, compare:

vs.

Also, the vision works just fine:

All of you guys' complaints could have easily been tested in under a minute in SCM Draft.

The sword and the faith

The problem still remains of the center being too thin. Yes it is only by a little bit but in a melee that makes a lot of difference. Blocking with 1 unit vs 2 units is considered a bad imbalance.

But those ramps would take atleast 2 tanks to block. Maybe 3... Tanks are easily killed with reavers or ultralisks. Not to mention air?

Tanks blocking a ramp and you wouldn't send air to take them out? If not then what WOULD you send?

You don't block ramps with tanks.

Hehe.. I would :)
Although I'd have a legion of marines behind them...

The sword and the faith

You obviously have never played any sort of high level melee. Tanks are not at all the issue here. A single drone, marine, zealot, scv, or early game unit could block the middle of those ramps from anything getting up. That is an imbalance if another player needs 2 of such a unit to do it, as early game scouting and rushing is usually decided by 1 or 2 units.

I've reattached the map with more ramps, and I fixed the other ones to widen them.

They work, but I've never liked Backwards ramps. They're too unreal.
Its like fucking with perspective.

Hello

Those blends nice and they also "works"...
I wonder how those ramps would look like forwards, so not backwards.
*pokes sticky*

Look at the picture upside down :bleh:

Are you asking me to make a backwards backward ramp? Wouldn't you just get a regular ramp?

For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.
