Whenever I try to use RetroGRP, it says I need a palette file, but I don't know where to find one... Can someone attach one, or tell me where to find one?

Uhm... When I tried to open a .grp... Or a .bmp... Basically, whenever I try to load anything, it prompts me for a palette file, but I don't have one, so I can't open anything. I just need a palette file. It's that simple.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

Retro GRP should already come with the pallete files.
The proble should be that they're not loaded in your retro. There should be some sort of pallete button in the lower side of your retro grp window and just look up for the pallete within the Retro GRP folder.

If for some reason you don't have the palletes download the palpack by Farty or download it anyway even if you do have the palletes cause it's pretty useful.

If neither works then I suggest you changing to SFGRPConv or GRPEdit.

fuck you all

Why are people so adamant about keeping the oldest and buggiest GRP converter? No offense or anything, I just want to know.

New people should use new converters.
Old Retro GRP is only for hardcore modders :P

I was using it because it came with the modding pack I downloaded (I think it's Corbo's) and didn't know there was a better one. I'll get the palette pack Corbo suggested, and a newer converter. Thanks guys.

Not the version I got... The one I got also had the fail version of DatEdit that crashed when you tried to edit weapons and stuff.

I think you should delete that version from the database, assuming you can find it.

I can't use the PyMS programs because I can't get Python to work.

It has come in EXE form for windows users the last 2 versions. Just download and run them, no need for Python.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
