Generally, I'm looking for several things (preferably free):

WAV to/from anything Converter.
WAV Compressor.

On the note of the compressor, when you compress .WAVs, does the quality go down to terrible and/or is there a difference in sound quality?

None.

WAVs are uncompressed sound files. The 'compression' which you speak of is simply a reduction in sound quality, which results in a smaller file. What you want to do is open the sound up in sound recorder and somewhere in the save options make it a 8 bit mono file, and reduce the sample rate.

I have the entire adobe master collection downloaded, and installed illegally. Spear me if you will... but i would rather NOT pay for it thanks. The adobe sound booth program allows you to open ANY audio playback file... doesn't matter the type, and save it as any other type.

.WAV is uncompressed.

A good example of compressed music are .mp3

Goldwave works wonders.

Hello

Audacity works fine for me in making sounds to .wavs. It also has a "compress" function (you can change the quality, thats all^^)

Oh_Man -- No APM in chess. Computer just outthinks the human by seeing more moves ahead and more permutations

Oh_Man -- U reckon? Kasparov waa defeated by computer decades ago

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface
[05:34 pm]
NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

Oops, caught me there, no I haven't. :( I was imagining how the game went. Sorry for that. Watching it now. brb

NimoStar shouted: They were not "Unprepared" that was their fifth loss in a row against the bot. The other replays are also available
that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
