Ok this is the problem... I was playing my 1/3 way done mod and was enjoying the new features of civilian attack and viking (the flying tank i posted about before)

the civilian has an attack... like i was saying, and the iscript looks like this....

Nukegssault:
playsndbtwn 276 277 # Terran\MARINE\TMaDth00.WAV, Terran\MARINE\TMaDth01.WAV
wait 1
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP

imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP

imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP

imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
attackwith 1
gotorepeatattk
goto CivilianLocal00

its a suicidal (well not acutally, the unit doesn't die upon attacking) attack with EMP effect like 5 times...

now the tank, here is the sieging part:
SiegeTank_Siege_BaseInit:
imgul 255 0 0 # SiegeTankSiegeShad (terran\tstShad.grp)
wait 1
setflspeed 0
playsnd 317 # Terran\TANK\TTaDth00.WAV
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
imgol 555 0 0 # EMP
wait 1
imgol 556 0 0 # EMP
playsnd 319 # Terran\TANK\TTaTra01.WAV
playfram 0
wait 5
playfram 1
wait 5
playfram 2
wait 5
playfram 3
wait 5
playfram 4
wait 5
playfram 5
wait 38
sigorder 1
goto SiegeTank_Siege_BaseLocal00
as u can see, the tank also have a EMP effect....

i am about 60% sure that the problem resides in IceCC...

any ideas?

None.

I'm very sure you should have a "wait" line before "gotorepeatattk"; for first problem.

Second: try a "wait" after "sigorder".

Lord of the Locker Room

Messing with the siege mode sequences is a good way to make the game crash, as they have a lot of hardcode mingled with them, especially if you mess with the timings.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

well, both of these scripts works, i sieged and unsieged multiple times... and i attacked using civilian multiple times....

but just suddenly, out of nowhere, boom...

i tried to play the same map a second time, everything works well, and suddenly... boom...

None.

Isolate the problem by using the Civilian script itself in its own little test mod. Do the same with the Siege Mode script.

Most likely, you'll only have problems when you use the Siege Mode script by itself.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
