Because of the bugs in retrogrp I turned to ShadowFlare's converter instead... but

How do you use it...?

I don't know how to convert Grp into Bmp... because it says it requires a "palatte"

I don't know how to compile Bmp back into Grp... same reason as above....

I don't know how to do anythin...

plus, I tried to select multiple Bmps in the process of compiling them into grp. but I only select 1 at a time...


and one more thing, I changed a few wireframes, and they appeared like they are damaged even when they are healthy, how do I fix that?

You can download PalPack (link unavailable... I'll have to find it for you) and load the appropriate palette for images (like wire for wireframe images, icon for icon images, etc.) It works a lot better than RetroGRP.

I would suggest trying PyGRP. It's more user friendly then SFgrpConv, comes with the required palettes, and has extra features.

what about the injured wireframe thing...?

my units with edited wireframes look injured.....

I believe you are using the wrong colors. In the palette you are using, there are two sets of the highlight colors, but only the later is the correct one. Easiest thing to do is uses a wireframe palette (which is only the wireframe colors and everything else is black) instead of the unit palette. PyGRP and PalPack both have wireframe palettes you can use.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
