Me and my brother have just installed Mandriva One 2008, and, well, as expected, we don't know anything about Linux. We have our reasons to have it installed, but that's not the point of this topic (so don't come saying I should stick to windows).

The point is that, for now we don't have sound. I'm using a Sound Maker Value 5.1, a Channel PCI Audio Acceleration Card. I don't know if it's the card the one that isn't compatible, or if I need to download drivers that are specifically designed for Linux. I would appreciate your help in this matter.

don't listen to him. that's for kernel 2.4, you're using 2.6.

i would go to irc and ask around; but first, check if you've enabled sound. i thought i didn't have sound once until i realized the default master sound was disabled.
