HDCP, an unnecessary hassle

Okay, I just bought a Bluray drive and rented a couple Bluray movies, to see if it'd work.

Movie starts up to a blue FBI thing, and then it gives me an error message and shuts it down. After some further research I find out that the culprit is this shittastic system called HDCP. Well, my monitor supports HDCP for HDMI ONLY. So, I go out and buy a converter, DVI to HDMI, and hook that up. Well, that fucks up my monitor, and it looks like it zoomed in (so I can't see my start bar and icons on way left column), and it looks like the screen got shifted to the left (theres a huge black bar on right i can't go past).

Is there an affordable way (I am NOT paying for an illegal software) to bypass HDCP? Why isn't DVA HDCP enabled? WHY MAKE IT SO HARD?

Uhh are you sure you have an hdcp ready video card?
and considering you were crazy enough to buy a blu ray drive..is it really that much to spend a little more? (isnt a blu ray dvd player better then a blu ray drive?)
so if you dont want to spend money..you have to do illegal options..

My vid card is not the problem. It's an 8800 GT from nVidia, but unfortunately has only 2 DVI slots.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
