As I am so good at multitasking... or not... I have decided to take up another project at the same time as my D&D Civilization map. The idea just came to me one day so I had to make it before I forgot about it. The map is called Keep Defense (if this name is taken, please tell me). It will have 10 levels with the 10th level being a boss. I know 10 levels doesn't sound like a lot, but I am trying to make this defense as difficult as possible.
- Levels -
The units that will appear for each level are...
- Level 1 - Barbarian (Zergling)
- Level 2 - Archer (Marine)
- Level 3 - Raider (Ghost)
- Level 4 - Marauder (Zealot)
- Level 5 - Sabateur (Firebat)
- Level 6 - Horseman (Ultralisk)
- Level 7 - Crossbowman (Hydralisk)
- Level 8 - Guerilla (Lurker)
- Level 9 - Blackguard (Archon)
- Level 10 (Boss) - General (Goliath)
Each Level will have about 60 units per side (for a total of 120 units). This number may increase to 100 per side (200 total) as the map nears completion.

- Units -
Each player will be able to build Oil Cauldrons (Photon Cannon) at the start of the game. Every 10 kills will give the player a Chooser in order to buy units to wall, hunt, etc (maximum of 15 choosers/ 150 kills. Might go up to 20 Choosers/ 200 kills as the map nears completion). The units available for purchase are...
- Swordsman (Zealot) x5 -
- Fanatic (Zergling) x3/ Dart Thrower (Hydralisk) x2 -
- Shortbowman (Marine) x3/ Pikeman (Firebat) x2 -
- Horse Archer (Dragoon) x2 -
Each group of units will only cost 1 Chooser.
There will also be a time when you can choose from a selection of heroes. A Chooser to buy a hero will appear at every 50 kills (not sure of the maximum, might be 3 or 4 heroes total).
The heroes available for purchase are...
- Cannon (Reaver) x1 -
- Longbowman (Sarah Kerrigan) x2 -
- Ballista/ Trebuchet (Siege Tank) x1 -
- Knight (Ultralisk) x1 -

The players have a total of 40 lives that they will share (obviously). Each unit that reaches the Keep (Xel'naga Temple) will take one life away AND loop back to the beginning of the road leading to the keep :D

More information will come later when the map nears completion, but this is about all you need to know as you wait for me to finish. Any questions for me will be answered eventually.

Except for the unit names and theme, it sounds quite unoriginal and strictly less fun that Cannon Defense. I always disliked having so little rounds because it makes it so bland.

Unlike your civilization project, I don't think this one is worth the time or effort.

As my Civilization map is my top priority, this map will not be completed for a while, if ever. I thought it was pretty good for my first Defense map and being the product of at most 15 minutes of a boring day. It might be seen, it might not, who knows? I'll probably forget about it anyway. If anyone wants to bribe me in order for me to finish it, well, I'll think about it

Yeah, this didn't sound like one of your better ideas. Stick with the Civ map, please. ^^

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
