Ugh. Does anyone know how to fix wireless issues?

I am trying to get a solid connection to my wireless router... It says Not Connected, the "Connect" button says "Disconnect", the icon has the red X over it, and all of my internet-based applications are running just fine.
"Ok, cool, so it works. What is the problem?", you ask? Well. Every 5-10 minutes everything will disconnect and I'll get a message saying something like "Unable to connect to wireless network." and I have to retry to connect/repair (which ultimately fails), and then I get to this connected/disconnected state again. If I toggle the windows firewall, I can get it to say it is connected... but then I still get disconnected after 5-10 minutes.

If anyone thinks they may know how to fix this, I'll give like network, router, etc. details. I don't feel like looking them all up and posting them right now if I'm not going to get any useful posts.

Well, it could be possible that something is interfering with your signal. I know I used to have a wireless phone that operated on the same frequency as my router, so the signal would always die whenever the phone was in use. I don't know if there's something in your aparment that could be doing that.

Well, we do have wireless phones... But this has only been happening today. (Similar things a few days ago, but it fixed easily.) I get full bars

k I fixed this.
All I did was remove all preferred networks and then reconnect.

Relatively ancient and inactive

I've had some pretty weird things with it. Sometimes the only way I had to fix ma' internetz was to remove the USB thing, disable all my local networks (four... yeah), and rapidly turn them all on in succession while jamming the USB thing in with all my feeble strength. It was really weird :P.

Your "USB thing" could've been going bad (connection getting bad, etc).

Mine is a built-in card. And I have 3 network connections: Firewire, ethernet, and wireless.

Mine is built in, too, but, I've never had the problems you've experienced (I HAVE experienced the wireless phone problem, though).

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface
[05:34 pm]
NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

Oops, caught me there, no I haven't. :( I was imagining how the game went. Sorry for that. Watching it now. brb

NimoStar shouted: They were not "Unprepared" that was their fifth loss in a row against the bot. The other replays are also available
that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
