Ok so today and yesterday I managed to install starcraft 1. Now I put my brooDat.mpq into the folder so it loads broodwar because my bw cd is broken. When I try to load it with scloader online it says it has a virus. But it works perfectly fine when I use regular starcraft online.

Anyone know what the problem is? I managed to do get it work before I reformatted my computer. Or is there another brood war file im missing?

I'm guessing that the Warden might've gotten you, not sure though...

Where did you get brooDAT.mpq? It might not be the right file.

I doubt it's Warden, as if you have the correct files, you basically have Brood War installed.

For multiplayer only, you can always play both Vanilla and Brood War StarCraft regardless of which CD you use. You only need to change CDs for single player.

I got it from gigins. That along with stardat is what runs starcraft. Whenever I used it before it works fine but this time it isnt working. Not sure if there are another brood war files im missing.

Try downloading it from a different site, and if it acts the same, it is, most likely, not a problem with the file.

You probably also need Brood War's starcraft.exe and patch_rt.mpq. Technically you can run Brood War with the normal starcraft.exe and patch_rt.mpq as long as they are newer versions since the only difference is the icon and a single text string which specifies the location of the file with the debug information (which only Blizzard has), but you may be unable to get onto battle.net with it since it would not match with the exe file used for Brood War and possibly some files in patch_rt.mpq may not match. Also, if you want to use the map editor, you should probably also get Brood War's staredit.exe, in case it is any different.
